IN THE MORNING

In the morning as I rise
To the silence of the mist and the dew
and the gentle smile of the moon
Let me know you are close to  my house
Oh Lord of heaven

As the world gets on it's feet
I will fall on my knees Oh Lord
And lift my feeble hands and heart
To the glory of the heavens above
A sinner's prayer to say
Mercy, love and forgiveness to ask

In the morning dear Lord
Before the cruel touch of the sun
That caresses my rough skin all day long
To make it cry out the waters underneath to chill the heat
I will pray that you lean down dear father
And kiss my brow, and kiss my cheek
You know I need your touch

Through the night, when the stars awake
To light up the sky for your shining glory
I lay vulnerable and quiet in my bed
Where only your love keeps me safe
as far from danger as Satan is;
from the glory of heaven

In the morning, in the clod morning
Will I find you by my side dear Lord?
To wake up to your sweet smile
That tender touch;
that make the sinner breakdown and cry
Not because of the fierce paws of judgment
But because of the tender touch of love

The cloud covers the sun
and the streets are free
As empty as my stomach in the morning
I feel the peaceful state of the day
For man is not awake
In the morning dear Lord
That's when I want to talk
To talk to the most listening ears

In the morning when I rise
May you be by my side, may u be my strength
Through the tussle and hustle of the day
I will not break, for u will hold me
And when I lay my head down again
May I still rise with u the next morning.
In the morning, dear Lord, in the morning.
