MERCY DRIVEN BY LOVE
It was love beyond compare
That made His son
To give up dignity
And be at the mercy of the bewilded
Down he looked
Straight at the mortals He gazed
They knew neither how to live nor
How to love ;
And mercy driven by love
Could not give him leave
Nor could his love give him peace
While the mortals were not at ease
To face God almighty who lives
Like a treasure
In her womb He lay
God’s perfect love and mercy
God’s pure expression of compassion
Freely given to the human race
To be received through faith and grace
In the hands of the poor He was placed
In the company of the despised
He grew
For with the unprivileged and unworthy
His Kingdom was found
On that cursed tree
A cry of victory clearly heard
Love truly and genuinely expressed
A triumph manifested
And with that
I stand to live another day.
